7 Steps to Achieve Honey Skin

When we say, ‘Honey Skin’, you think skin that is glowing and radiant. Well, you are right to a certain extent. Honey skin is a bit more than that – it is skin that is dewy, deeply hydrated, smooth and super supple with a natural bounce. The skin is not shiny but has a subtle glow and semi glossy.

‘Honey skin’ has been a trend in Korea for the longest time that plays on the skin’s texture. It is achieved by a blend of some serious skin hydration and dewy makeup techniques. ‘Honey skin’ works particularly well for Indian skin tones because we look good in a semi-matte, subtly glowing skin.

Getting your honey sheen

So, how to get started with your honey skin look? Before you go ahead, remember that this looks depends completely on how well you can hydrate your skin. The rest comes easy. Your skin has to look hydrated, supple and bright at all times. Your aim should be to get hydrated, baby smooth skin with the dewiness of honey. Here’s how to get it:

Step #1: Double-cleanse your skin.

Your skin needs to be super clean to be able to absorb the hydrating products that will go on top of it. Start by using a cleansing oil or a creamy cleanser. Then use a foaming face wash to remove the residue. You can look for a gentle, exfoliating face wash or a skin-smoothing scrub to prep your skin.

Step #2: Add humectants that hydrate your skin.

To maximize the supple texture of your skin, you need to use products that have humectants like aloe vera, hyaluronic acid, lactic acid, glycerin, and honey. These attract water molecules to the skin and deeply hydrate it. Look for serums with the above-mentioned active ingredients. Serums are potent moisturizers that can easily go below the epidermis and support the collagen structure.

Step #3: Hydrate with a brightening moisturizer.

It will get easily absorbed into the skin and give it a dewy finish. If you tend to get dry skin, then applying a facial oil will also work well for plumping up your skin and giving it a sheen. You can also use a brightening and pore-minimizing moisturizer with actives like niacinamide. It helps to balance the skin, refine the pores, and prevent environmental damage to the skin.

Step #4: Use a hydrating, cream-based foundation.

You must highlight your super-hydrated, plump skin with a lightweight, cream-based foundation. It should smooth over the pores, blur out blemishes, and add dewiness to your skin. Less is more in this case. Tinted moisturizers with a hint of a golden undertone work wonderfully to give your skin a hydrated, glowing finish.

Step #5: Go with a creamy neutral blush.

The idea here is to bring out a subtle golden glow in your skin. Pat in, with a light hand, a cream blush in a neutral tone. It should just add a hint of color to your cheeks and have the most natural finish. The idea is to create a sheer, barely-there wash of color on your cheeks.

Step #6: Nude pink lips do the trick.

Bring out your hydrated honey skin with soft lips in the barest pink you know. Try a tinted lip balm or a semi-matte lip tint that gives your pout a hint of color. Keep the color closest to the natural color of your lips. Just make sure your lips look as soft and pliable as your skin.

Step #7: Refresh skin with facial mist.

In honey skin, you need to keep your skin looking hydrated and soft through the day. So, using a powder to absorb excess sebum from your skin is a big ‘no’. Instead, use a facial mist or rosewater spray on your face and dab gently with a face wipe. Allow the skin to absorb the water. It leaves your skin feeling hydrated, refreshed, and dewy.
